About Us

WHO ARE WE?

The APHVO (Association des personnes handicapées visuelles de l’Outaouais) is a non-profit resource and information organization for people with visual impairments. The association is subsidized by the Secrétariat à l’action communautaire autonome et aux initiatives sociales (SACAIS) of the ministère du Travail, de l’Emploi et de la Solidarité sociale.

Our mission

to advocate for the rights of people with visual impairments living in the Outaouais region.

Our objectives

  • Break the isolation of our members;
  • Promote the interests of our members;
  • Promote social integration after rehabilitation;
  • Support and develop our partnership with the Ville de Gatineau and other cities in the Outaouais region;
  • Support and develop our partnership with the CISSS de l’Outaouais and the Centre régional de réadaptation en déficience physique La RessourSe;
  • Create partnerships with private businesses and the community;
  • Fight for better universal accessibility;
  • Set up adolescent groups and groups of parents of children with visual impairments.

  • RAPHO (Regroupement des associations de personnes handicapées de l’Outaouais);
  • RAAQ (Regroupement des aveugles et amblyopes du Québec);
  • ARUTAQ (Alliance des Regroupements des Usagers du Transport Adapté du Québec);
